             Whiter Than Snow

What a delight to see all of Camden covered in snow Friday February 12, 2010. We got around four inches! A rare occasion in Alabama indeed.
Of course we all thought of that hymn "Whiter Than Snow."  It was written by a Methodist! James Nicholson was a member of the Wharton Street Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. He worked at the local post office; come rain, sleet or SNOW.
Perhaps the snow brought to memory David's Psalm of confession that wrought a dynamic change in his life "Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." Psalm 51:7
We, like David, can allow earthly desires and distractions to settle on our souls to the point that we have loss our heavenly good. Spiritually, we can be like that kid named Pigpen from the Peanuts Gang with filth flying with every footstep.
Praise God there is Power in the Blood! Would you be whiter much whiter than snow? Sin stains are lost in its life-giving flow!
"Lord Jesus, for this I most humbly entreat; I wait, blessed Lord, at Thy crucified feet. By faith, for my cleansing I see Thy blood flow. Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. Whiter than snow, yes, whiter than snow. Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."
